Door opened to new business offer

Timberworks, based in Settle, spotted a gap in the market and created a specialist paintwork facility to offer additional services to both new and existing customers who require doors and windows with a painted finish.

Unlock potential, accelerate growth

To enable this growth, the business has been awarded a £19,000 grant from the LEP to purchase and renovate a former engineering store close to its existing premises.

Timberworks director Rebecca Bullock, who runs the company with her husband Ian, said the recent creation of the paint workshop was already having a positive impact on the company’s performance, accelerating plans to launch a dedicated window and door showroom.

Mrs Bullock said: “As a specialist manufacturer and installer of high quality bespoke timber products across Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria, we have enjoyed success since our establishment in 2000.

“However, like any business, diversification is key to future growth so we were delighted to secure the LEP grant. It has enabled us to offer a specialist service to meet customers’ requirements.”

Carving out new jobs for the future

Roger Marsh, Chair of the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership, said: “Timberworks is a great example of a company within the Leeds City Region that has continued to thrive despite the economic downturn and has a positive future ahead of it.”

Mrs Bullock added that Timberworks, which currently employs 12 staff, was also hoping to recruit further members to its team after agreeing a distribution partnership with specialist window business Rationel.
