Time to maximise opportunities of HS2

02.06.14

The Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership is ensuring the region is HS2 ready by enabling local businesses to maximize the opportunities the High Speed Rail will bring.

The LEP is teaming up with HS2 Ltd to host a business seminar on 19th June which will map out the business opportunities available to suppliers and specialist contractors from the region who are interested in bidding for HS2 contracts.

With 4 brand new stations proposed, 330 miles of new track being laid and 53.4km of the proposed route in tunnels, the LEP is working with HS2 Ltd to raise the profile of the number of major business opportunities and ensure businesses are ready to be part of the supply chain for the £42.6 billion project.

Roger Marsh, Chair of the LEP said:

“HS2 is not just about changing the way we travel, it is essential to the medium and long-term growth of our city region and the opportunities this offers future generations, both in terms of direct job creation and the effects of better connectivity.”

“Ensuring the city region is HS2 ready is a core element of our recently submitted Strategic Economic Plan, and by partnering with HS2 Ltd, we can ensure regional businesses start out on the front foot in seizing the opportunities available.”

The event is aimed at all suppliers and contractors who are interested in delivering aspects of the investment such as railway systems, design services, rolling stock and infrastructure. All interested businesses are encouraged to register for this free event here. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
