Statement on Northern Cultural Regeneration Fund
Welcoming the announcement of the funding, Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Chair Roger Marsh OBE said:
“We are pleased that the Government has seen to invest in the North of England and build on the rich cultural heritage that already exists here. When done well, culture-led regeneration can pay dividends, which we have seen in Leeds City Region this week with the launch of Halifax’s Piece Hall, following on from Wakefield’s hugely successful Hepworth Gallery which was recently crowned the Art Fund’s museum of 2017.
“It is vital that new places feel the benefit of cultural investment so more communities, and particularly young people, have the opportunity to take an active part in inspirational creative activities. We will continue to work with our partners across the City Region to explore all opportunities to ensure our world-class cultural assets get the investment and development they deserve.”
