Stalled Otley development kick-started by LEP loan

The following video tells the story of how a loan from the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership helped to transform a derelict site in Otley into an exciting new development.

Garnetts Mill was an abandoned derelict paper mill until support from the LEP’s Growing Places Fund helped to support its demolition and remediation work. The site is currently under development and once completed, will feature 194 new homes, a retirement complex, a restaurant, bar and 7,000 square feet of new office space. Developers BDW are also proposing to include river turbines to generate green energy.

The LEP's £36m Growing Places Fund provided loans for projects that would create economic and employment growth, or lower carbon emissions. It is designed for projects that are ready to proceed, but have been delayed and now need support to move forward. The Growing Places Fund is currently closed for applications but you can find out more about the fund and other business funding options here.
