Partnership welcomes further round of Regional Growth Funding

17.01.13

The Leeds City Region Partnership has today welcomed the Deputy Prime Minister’s announcement on a fourth round of Regional Growth Funding.

The Deputy Prime Minister called on businesses across the country to bid for a share of the £350 million cash pot in a quick round set to close to applications on the 20 March.

Chair of the Leeds City Region LEP, Neil McLean said:

“Leeds City Region businesses have already benefitted from the Regional Growth Fund to the tune of more than £90m, and the availability of further funds is great news. We want to build on our success so far in this round, and the LEP will be keen to work with companies to develop strong bids that meet our economic priorities.”

The Leeds City Region LEP has worked with bidders to the first three rounds of the Regional Growth Fund, and the great majority of successful bids from the area were ones that had secured LEP endorsement. The City Region’s previous success includes funding for a £20m grant programme for City Region businesses that the LEP hopes to launch next month. Further details of this programme will be available on the LEP's business support portal shortly.

Potential applicants for the fourth round of RGF are being encouraged to attend ‘expressions of interest events’ for support and further help with the application process. The Yorkshire and Humber ‘expression of interest’ event will take place in Leeds on 19 February 2013.

Information on the bidding process is available at: www.bis.gov.uk/RGF

Businesses seeking the endorsement of the LEP for an RGF application should contact Lynn Cooper at the LCR LEP Secretariat on 0113 395 0195.
