Roger Marsh has been appointed Chair of the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). He will formally take up his appointment with effect from 1 July 2013.

Currently Senior Partner at PwC in Leeds, Roger was seconded to the Cabinet Office in 2007 as Director General, Strategic Finance and Operations.

Roger has been Deputy Chair of inward investment body Leeds and Partners since 2011, working with the Chair to constitute a new Board while shaping strategy and priorities for Leeds as one of the UK's most significant financial centres.

As UK Northern Leader, Government and Public Sector at PwC, Roger worked with the Smith Institute to create the policy proposal "Rebalancing the economy: prospects for the north".

Councillor Peter Box, Chair of the Leeds City Region Leaders Board, commented:

"We are very pleased to appoint Mr Marsh as the next Chair of the LEP. Roger combines great qualities stemming from his accomplished professional background both in private sector and whilst working in the heart of government.

With Roger's previous background as well as his detailed understanding of business and the economic development agenda, we will be able to continue the great work delivered by the outgoing Chair, Neil McLean, to achieve our goal of creating jobs and opportunities for our economy and business."

Roger Marsh, incoming LEP Chair, said:

"I am looking forward to working across the public and private sectors and leading the evolution of strategy for the Leeds City Region. I believe that a business-led approach in an era of increasing decentralisation is vital to the stimulation of growth and delivery of the infrastructure across all the major towns and cities that will ensure long-term prosperity for our region, its people and communities.
