LEP events to get businesses exporting

29.10.14

As part of this November’s Export Week, the LEP will be hosting two events to enable businesses in Leeds City Region to export.

The first event, an online TwitChat taking place on Monday 10 November 2014, 1-2pm, will give businesses the chance to put their questions to an expert panel of exporters using the hashtag #AskExporters.

The panel features Eric Hawthorn, LEP Board member and MD at Radio Design, Victoria Boldison, International Brand Controller at Principle Healthcare, Tim Bailey, Director at Chamber International, and Richard Smith, MD at Surfachem, who will be joining the conversation live from a business trip to China.

Businesses will also have an opportunity to hear first-hand from businesses that have become successful exporters and learn practical exporting tips at the LEP’s event, ‘We are International: Inspiring stories to get you exporting’. This will take place on Wednesday 12 November 2014, 1:40 to 2:40pm at Royal Hall, Harrogate, as part of UKTI’s Explore Export 2014 event.

Eric Hawthorn is one of the speakers at the event and will be on hand to share his exporting journey – from starting his business with just 11 employees in 2007 to now employing 270 people, with operations in both India and China. Other panel members include Jo McBeath, UKTI, Jenny Lawson, Enterprise Europe Yorkshire, and Mike Strawson, Chamber International.

Businesses are encouraged to participate in both events which will provide the opportunity to find out what exporting support is available from both the LEP and its partners. The LEP’s We are International initiative aims to help more companies realise their growth potential by taking advantage of opportunities in emerging markets, and members of the team will be on hand to answer questions.

To join the TwitChat, businesses are encouraged to submit questions in advance to the LEP’s Twitter account @LeedsCityRegion using the hashtag #AskExporters. Or you can follow the discussion from 1-2pm on 10 November and pose your questions live to the experts.

You can register to attend ‘We are International: Inspiring stories to get you exporting’ here. Places are limited so please register early to avoid disappointment.
