25.06.14

The Chair of the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Roger Marsh, has today offered his support to the Sheffield City Region LEP's bid to locate the national High Speed Rail College in Doncaster. Doncaster is one of four locations on the shortlist for the new College, alongside Manchester, Derby and Birmingham.

Mr Marsh said:

“The Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership is proudly backing the Sheffield City Region’s bid for a new High Speed Rail College in Doncaster.

“Sheffield City Region’s bid gives government the opportunity, not just to rebalance the national economy from the south to north, but also to reverse the skills deficit our region currently faces. The Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership is ready to work closely with the Sheffield City Region LEP – and other partners regionally and nationally – to ensure that economic benefits and training opportunities for residents will be felt far and wide.

“Our LEPs are already working together across a number of key economic areas including projects to attract inward investment, improve transport connectivity and funding for growing businesses.”
