National Physical Laboratory

The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) offers support to small medium sized businesses in the manufacturing sector to reduce waste, optimise processes, instil best practice and raise quality.

Overview

The NPL offers a variety of services, including:

• reviewing manufacturing processes to identify optimum product validation strategies which are most efficient, timely and appropriate for the products being manufactured
• undertaking a skills analysis to identify knowledge gaps and recommend training solutions
• evaluating measurement technology and recommending best practice
• evaluating the measurement environment, management of measurement tools and recommending improvements.

Businesses will be offered a free of charge product verification service which is central to the support described above with a report outlining opportunities for improvement.

Small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) can also receive free one hour consultancies from NPL staff either by telephone or by meeting at NPL’s laboratories in Huddersfield.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for support from NPL you must be a manufacturing business that is located in the Leeds City Region.
