Leeds City Region to pilot new Skills Advisory Panels and Career Learning programme
Responding to the announcements by Justine Greening at the Department for Education’s Skills Summit today, Leader of Bradford Council and Chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe, said:
“We in Leeds City Region have a strong track record of working in partnership with business to meet the needs of the economy and we welcome the recognition of this by the Secretary of State for Education in the announcements made today.
“Initiatives such as the government’s Career Learning pilot and Skills Advisory Panels will allow us to build on the success of work already taking place across the City Region to increase and improve the skills provision in the City Region, aligning the skills of our local talent with the needs of businesses.
“And, with building an inclusive economy that works for all in mind, we will focus particularly on progression through qualifications and training to allow our workforce to escape low pay and in-work poverty.”
