Leeds City Region continues to demonstrate its strength as a place to grow digital businesses as dxw announces today that it is relocating its national HQ to its Leeds base.
The announcement comes during Leeds Digital Festival - an annual festival celebrating all things digital - and signals confidence in the region in a move that is set to boost economic recovery.
A high-growth digital agency serving the public sector across the UK, dxw opened a satellite office in Leeds during the summer of 2018 with support from the LEP. They have now made the landmark decision to transfer their main office from London and run their operations from Leeds.
Leeds City Region was recently recognised as having the highest scale-up rate in the North of England by the ScaleUp Institute, thanks to its talent pipeline, leadership development and access to UK markets.
The region’s robust tech sector is continuing to grow despite the challenging economic environment. The thriving regional digital ecosystem includes more co-working spaces, accelerators, events, meetups, community platforms and start-up support schemes than ever before.
The company benefited from support through Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership’s (the LEP) #welcome fund. Aimed at tech businesses that want to set up a new presence in the region it offers funding of £10,000-£50,000 to support relocation or expansion projects
David Mann, Managing Director of dxw said:
“We have been so impressed with the collaborative digital community, access to talent and the supportive business environment in Leeds City Region, we have made the decision to move our HQ out of London and into Leeds.
“There’s a big public sector presence in and around Leeds, and we’re well connected with other cities. The support from the LEP and Leeds City Council has been invaluable, and the LEP’s #welcome scheme is superb. We would encourage businesses like ours to make the most of it.”
Roger Marsh, OBE DL, Chair of Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (the LEP) and NP11 said:
“I am delighted that dxw are moving their HQ to Leeds City Region. This investment signals that our region remains attractive to high-growth, digital firms that are the key to the region's economic recovery.
“I am confident that Leeds City Region will provide the ideal base for the business to expand and grow and I look forward to following their future success.”
Cllr Judith Blake, CBE, Leader of Leeds City Council said:
“Leeds is the fastest growing digital economy outside London and a great place to be based for any business and we are delighted with the news that dxw are moving their HQ to Leeds.
“With economic conditions now adapting in the Covid-19 world, we are keen to support and encourage businesses like dxw to expand, grow and benefit both our local economy and the wider city region.”
