Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (the LEP) is supporting the Asian Business Growth Program – a coaching course designed to accelerate the growth of Asian-owned businesses in the region through capacity building and creating connections with local mentors and business opportunities.

Covid-19 and Brexit have challenged businesses and changed the way many operate. The Asian Business Growth Program will help entrepreneurs vision a roadmap for long-term resilience and offer coaching support to understand potential business threats and opportunities, plan for the future, access funding and connect with senior business leaders.

The Asian Business Growth Program vlog series aims to create local role models within the Asian business community and advise how SMEs can win larger contracts, get support and become more profitable. The first episode, titled Rough Diamonds, follows the ambitious growth journeys of five entrepreneurs. Working in collaboration with business leaders from KPMG, Morrisons, Yorkshire Water and Yeme Group, the episode also introduces the experts and regional civic leaders helping to model, position and accelerate the businesses.

Amir Hussian, programme lead, CEO at Yeme Architects and LEP Board member, said:

“Many Asian SME businesses have sound financial foundations, family support networks and international connections (with ancestral homelands). This means there's never been a better time to expand the horizons, raise aspiration and create added value, economically, socially and environmentally. Positioning ambitious businesses in this context helps to ensure they can achieve greater success and impact at a local, regional and global level.

The second vlog episode will focus on how business propositions are adjusted to reflect the technological and social trends changes that are underway.
