Over the last year, the Dewsbury-based manufacturer has experienced phenomenal growth after diversifying into the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) to help meet the demand caused by the pandemic whilst continuing to grow its core packaging and labelling services.

Young business achieves £3 million turnover in three years

Masterprint Packaging Ltd is forecasting an increased turnover to over £3 million after business investments supported by Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (the LEP) helps fast-track business growth plans.

Over the last year, the company has experienced phenomenal growth after diversifying into the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) to help meet the demand caused by the pandemic whilst continuing to grow its core packaging and labelling services.

Established in 2016, Owner Mr Saeed Mahmed found access to finance a barrier to growth, and like many young businesses, he was unaware of the range of finance options available.

After being introduced to the LEP Business Support Service by Iqbal Bhana OBE DL, a local Business Consultant, Masterprint secured two grants to accelerate investments in new equipment and the 8,000 sq. ft site expansion of its premises. The new investments have increased business output by 40 per cent per day, and the business expects to increase its client base and create more jobs.

Iqbal has worked with the LEP for several years to help more Asian-owned businesses access support.

This project received investment from the LEP, delivered by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, through the Leeds City Region Growth Deal – a £1 billion package of Government investment to accelerate growth and create jobs across the Leeds City Region.

Thanks to Mr Bhana, I have been made aware of financial support that I never knew existed. It has helped us grow as a business much quicker than we would otherwise have been able to do.
